She’s My Hero- June

We’re now halfway through the She’s My Hero Calendar with June. Meet Erin. She is a wife, mother of three children and an engineer! Erin is an incredibly intelligent woman, yet she’s completely down to earth, humble, and as easy going as can be. She grew up on a farm in Canada and loves horses. Erin has never personally met her hero, but she’s very inspired by her. Her hero had a big impact on our world today and was known for defying gender stereotypes and being a pioneer in a male dominated industry.

We’re so thankful to Skirt Magazine for sponsoring the She’s My Hero Project Calendar Launch Party. Their mission is to celebrate and empower women with attitude, so it was a perfect fit with our studio! They will have some of their team at the event, which is on Wednesday, October 10th from 6-9pm at Boone Hall Plantation. There you will FINALLY get to see the She’s My Hero Calendar, which was created to raise funds and awareness for the Center for Women. We chose the Center for Women because they seek to encourage and empower local women through profession development, education and awareness. So be sure to GET YOUR TICKETS now at: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/shes-my-hero-calendar-launch-party-tickets-49132726307

She’s My Hero- May

It’s time to meet Tiffany who is representing May in our She’s My Hero Calendar. Tiffany is a 34 year old, hardworking, independent, single mom of two sweet sons! She is also a full time RN who works really hard taking care of others. Tiffany is determined to raise her boys to become incredible people. We love her unbreakable spirit and determination!  When times were tough, Tiffany found strength in a stranger with her own inspiring story. Her hero is also a single mother who has been through a lot, persisted, and came out on top. We are so grateful to Vanity Salon for styling this strong woman.

At the She’s My Hero Calendar Launch Party, you’ll get to see some of the beautiful and professional rentals from Eventworks. We can’t wait for you to see the lounge area also from their company and Silent Auction at the event! What should you wear to the event at Boone Hall Plantation? We are planning for business casual, but you are most welcome to come exactly as you are. Feel free to match the event colors which are: amethyst, plum, and silver. If you haven’t gotten your tickets yet, GET THEM HERE.

Here’s a hint about her hero– She inspired a really fun and colorful style for her shoot… think I heart the 80s!!! A huge thank you to Sarah Pearson Hair & Makeup Artistry for rocking the 80s hair and makeup styling. Totally outrageous!

She’s My Hero- January

Back in February, we announced the She’s My Hero Contest to raise funds and awareness for the Center for Women, and coming up on October 10th, we will reveal the winners’ photos at the She’s My Hero Calendar Launch Party. Make sure to get your tickets to celebrate woman and help raise funds to support the Center for Women at: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/shes-my-hero-calendar-launch-party-tickets-49132726307

Between now and the launch party, we’ll be introducing you to each of the women in the calendar. But because we love surprises, we will NOT be revealing who their heroes are nor the selected calendar image. Even the ladies in the calendar haven’t seen the photos, and we can’t wait to see their expressions when they see it for the first time at the event!!! Now onto the first introduction…

Meet Jessica. She will be representing January in our calendar. She loved to help sick children feel better. She volunteered by dressing up as Wonder Woman and visiting children in local hospitals. She was also a part of Pinups for a Cause. Unfortunately, Jessica was tragically taken from us in a car accident not long after we photographed her. We honor Jessica and her desire to encourage others and help make their lives better.

We’re so thankful to Sarah Pearson Hair & Makeup Artistry for styling Jessica’s hair and makeup.

She's My Hero Project

She’s My Hero Sponsors

To celebrate women, their diversity and empowerment, mellBella Photography created the She’s My Hero Project to raise funds for the Center for Women.

Back in March for Women’s History Month, we held the She’s My Hero Contest where we asked local women to tell us who their heroes were.  The contest winners received a photoshoot from mellBella styled as their hero. Also, each winner received a gift basket filled with donations from local businesses.

The photos from the contest winners will be in the 2019 She’s My Hero Calendar. ALL sales of the Calendar will benefit the Center for Women directly. To be included in the calendar, all sponsors must have all information submitted by August 31st. Silent Auction donations should be submitted by September 28th.

On October 10th at Boone Hall, mellBella Photography along with our fabulous sponsors will host the She’s My Hero Calendar Launch Party. Details and tickets coming soon!

We are looking for sponsors for the calendar & event as well silent auction donations, especially from women-owned businesses. We hope you will partner with us for this event. Contact us to receive more information.

She’s My Hero- Jessica

When we decided we wanted to do a big fundraiser for the Center for Women, we had no idea what we wanted to do. We wanted to honor women. We wanted to support women. And we wanted to do something nice for women who do so much for others by honoring them in a calendar through the She’s My Hero Contest. We asked for submissions, and we had a really, really tough time narrowing it down to 10 women. One of those women was Jessica Kirby. When we read her story and her love of raising the spirits of hospitalized children, we knew she was special.

Here is a small selection Jessica wrote to us:
“I also enjoy volunteering at local hospitals and shelters for the kids as Wonder Woman. It’s amazing when I visited the kids at the hospital and how much they even loved Wonder Woman and that made me feel like a super hero.”
Tragically,  Jessica was killed on Sunday night in a vehicle collision. We are absolutely heartbroken over the loss of our Pinup Wonder Woman. Jessica, thank you for your desire and actions to make the world a better place. You will not be forgotten by those who’s lives you touched. You truly were a Wonder Woman!

She’s My Hero Project Announcement Video

It’s been a dream of ours for a long time to create a great fundraiser to celebrate and support women in our community. We didn’t want to do it alone because together we can make an even bigger difference in our world. So, we created the She’s My Hero Project to raise funds for the Center for Women. We chose the Center for Women as our charity because they truly help women succeed personally and professionally through education, skill building, networking, and much more. In addition to raising funds, we also want to raise awareness about their programs to help even more women. Check out the video below for our big announcement from our appearance on Lowcountry Live:
